I'm probably the most picky Fantasy reader around (yet strangely it always makes it's way onto my TBR) but most of the reviews indicate that this is going to do something different. In a genre that I find tends to have lots of action but little actual substance, I am here for something different. Fingers crossed for this one.
2. Monday's Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson
Contemporary, 448 pages

This seems like a hefty, serious contemporary about the disappearance of a teenage girl. Since we're not quite into the carefree sunshine of Summer, I'm hoping this will be one I can read on a rainy day for an engrossing and thought-provoking story.
3. Save the Date by Morgan Matson
Contemporary, 432 pages

Okay, so it's going to be almost Summer by the time this one comes out, but how can I resist a Morgan Matson book? About a wedding no less. Cutesy, romantic escapism, here I come!
4. Furyborn by Claire Legrand
Fantasy, 512 pages

Between the assassins, the discovery that one MC is a Sun Queen, and the other MC being a hunter amidst political upheaval, I'm afraid this is going to be kind of generic YA Fantasy. But, there is supposedly a bi lead and it "spans millennia" so I'm holding out hope.
5. Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli
Contemporary, 352 pages

I just watched Love, Simon (so incredible by the way) which reminded me of how amazing Becky Albertalli's stories are, and now I want nothing more than a happy ending for Leah. Gimme!!

1. Turtles All the Way Down by John Green
Contemporary, 288 pages

I've had this books since the release day and the fact that my own anxiety is easily triggered has kept me from reading more than 50 pages. That said, I think I'm going to love this book more than any other John Green book given how close this topic is to home -- for John, and for me.
2. Strange, the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
Fantasy, 536 pages

I've also had this one since the release (a year ago now! what is wrong with me?). I started the audio but put it down because I was getting lost. I think I need to read it with my eyes.
3. Heartless by Marissa Meyer
Fairy Tale Retelling, 453 pages

This seems like the perfect opportunity to catch up on Marissa Meyer without having to reread most of the Lunar Chronicles to get to something new (Winter haunts me). And I love anything with Alice in Wonderland vibes, so I don't see how it can go wrong!
4. Shadow Scale by Rachel Hartman

Truthfully I'd really love to read Seraphina again first (for the third time) so I can be fully prepared to read Shadow Scale and then Tess of the Road. Any way you slice it, there are an intimidating amount of pages between me and being caught up with this world.
5. Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
Urban Fantasy, 698 pages

I've stayed up to date with Cassandra Clare since I was in 8th grade. I remember when she announced the extension of The Mortal Instruments series and I was shocked because I realized I would be in college when the last one came out. Dang, time flies. Time to catch up! I owe it to my 8th grade self.
Making this list I notice that in Spring I am still drawn to some heftier Fantasies that I associate with winter reading, but I am also anticipating the Summer with a sampling of contemporaries as well. What do you like to read in Spring?

I’m so excited to read Save the Date! I love Morgan Matson’s books, and this one looks like it’s going to be especially good! I’ve been meaning to read Turtles All the Way Down and Heartless, too! I’ve heard so many good things about both of them. I hope you end up enjoying them all!
