My progress: 75/448
When I heard this was coming out in September, it instantly
became my most anticipated book of the year because of how much I love Winger
and how much I appreciate Andrew Smith’s weird work in general. I’m about 75
pages into this one and it definitely has his signature craziness, although I’m
not sure if it’s sitting right with me this time. Something about this book
almost feels too random, and the content is very heavy (and weird) and it’s not
very funny which I feel is something Andrew Smith can be very good at. I might
need a break from this one but I want to read at least 150 pages before I
decide one way or another whether this is for me.
What did you recently finish reading?
Literary Fiction, 290 pages

My rating: ★★★★★
This one was not on my TBR but after Ottessa came to our
store and read an excerpt it had been on my mind, and everyone at work was reading
it… so I caved and I finished it in one weekend. The narrator’s voice is so
readable. Even though she’s pretty horrible, she’s also darkly, shockingly
humorous. There were also a few passages that were particularly striking and
thought provoking. I really, really liked it.
What do you think you’ll read next?
Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
YA Urban Fantasy, 698 pages
Published March 8, 2016 by Simon & Schuster
Well, technically I guess I’ve already started this one. But
I’m not sure if I’m going to continue with Rabbit
& Robot first, or read this one instead. Both are on my TBR after all,
and my date with Cassie Clare is long overdue! I know these characters were
introduced in the last TMI book, but I don’t remember them and I didn’t like
City of Heavenly Fire very much… so fingers crossed for this one!
I would love to hear what you thought of these books and
what you’re currently reading!
