WWW Wednesdays is a meme currently hosted by Taking on a World of Words

What are you currently reading?

The Wicked King by Holly Black
YA Fantasy, 336 pages
January 8, 2019 from Little, Brown

For my first WWW Wednesday, I was reading The Cruel Prince, and clearly I ended up loving it because I listed it as my best book of the year so far and now I’m reading the sequel six months before it comes out (and getting ready to hate everything when I’ll have to wait extra long for Book 3). I’m 136 pages in and still loving it. My only qualm is that I feel like the world is getting too big too fast for me to follow. Well, that, and I wish I had more time to binge it.

What did you recently finish reading?

Dive Smack by Demetra Brodsky
YA Psychological Thriller, 336 pages
Published June 19, 2018 by Tor Teen

My rating: ★★★

I picked this up on a whim because my friend Christy at BookCrushin said it was her favorite book of the year. I just finished the audio yesterday, although I started it a while ago, because I took a couple breaks. My feelings about it are basically that it’s a good book, but not a good book for me. It’s super relentlessly intense and pretty twisty in its reveals/how the puzzle all fits together, although they didn’t always satisfy me, and I also didn’t love the main character. It would be good for someone who likes psychological things edging on sci-fi!

What do you think you’ll read next?

Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour
YA Contemporary, 312 pages
Published May 15, 2014 by Dutton

(Note: I’m not deviating from my TBR, but I never include audiobooks on my TBR!) I’ve had a physical copy of this for a while, and I was reminded that I kinda need to read everything Nina LaCour has ever written when I ordered basically all of her books for the store’s new Queer YA section. Plus, We Are Okay is one of my favorite books of ever, so I hope I like this one even a fraction as much. Plus, I’m excited to add to my TBR Challenge tally (I’m trying to make sure I’m reading books that have been on my shelf before the beginning of this year!) and I thought picking up an audio copy would be a good way to work on that goal.

P.S. I'm still not over this cover

  1. Thanks so much for following me and reading my WWW Wednesday - I have followed you back! The Cruel Prince is on my TBR so since you are going to read ACOTAR now, I'll have to try this one haha.
